Funny Conditions of the Deutsche Bahn

A small hack which might come in handy

The Deutsche Bahn has funny conditions for intercity connections.

When some part of the journey did not work out as planned, the train binding (so the obligation to use the exact booked train) is suspended.
Therefore, one can use any train.
One does not even have to travel at the given day.

Sie können eine spätere Verbindung Ihrer Wahl nutzen (z.B. später am selben Reisetag, einen Tag später oder auch erst in 3 Wochen. Dies ist bis zu einem Jahr nach ursprünglichem Reisedatum möglich).

So one can use this ticket within one year after the planned date of travel.

The fun part is now that your ticket only is used up if you got into a ticket inspection.
So if train binding was suspended, you have even more than Flex-Ticket (which only allows you to use any connection on the date of travel) for the price of a super-cheap one.
And if there is no ticket inspection, you can reuse this multiple times.

I wonder how long these conditions will work out that way. As I am not travelling on a regular base, this is less useful for myself, but still a very fun thing to know.
