I am not going to the UWM
The current situation has also quite a big impact on my future planning. As the situation was very unclear in July I decided not to go to the UWM.
The reasons are various:
- The domestic political situation of the US was very bad and I did not want to be there when arbitrary governmental reactions are executed, the health situation is also quite outstanding
- It would be hard to find friends there, as nearly everything will be online
- The classes will not be in person, which would make learning harder. The last semester was quite worse than in person because I was more distracted and especially in a different language there is a lot of communication lost.
- I also want to have a great time and a lot of personal experience and travel a bit
- Staying in Germany allowed me to calm my life a little down and take the time for the projects laying around
I think this is understandable and I don’t know how the situation will be next year, but I might get the chance to travel to the UWM next year and graduate there.
But this is still very far away and I don’t know if I have other plans after graduating my master’s degree in Germany.
On a more positive note, I am going on vacation next week to an alp in Switzerland. This will be a quite special experience as I will help to milk the cows, make cheese and feed the pigs which is a very big contrast to the situation I have at home.
It will be for a week and I will probably visit my relatives in southern Germany too.
But when I come from vacation I will have to start learning for three exams before the next semester starts…
